from summer 2007 meeting:
CANDY RYAN – Oldmar, FL
Would like to see a memorial plaque with a dollar value
for the names added.
Donation wall. From the family of....
– Finance is her background and she is most interested in working on
the endowment.
– Get handle of coming and going of the money.
– Be able to make projections
– She could do the financials
CONNIE HENDRIX – Be a floater between all committees and help
solve the challenges.
Whatever or wherever I am needed. Can all work with the local
businesses to develop their support and include something on their
behalf regarding the positive impact the symposium has on their
businesses.
DEBORAH HAYNES – Recommended having a planning day with a
facilitator and meet in Denver. Needs a formal facilitator. For
example: Leilani Henry in Evergreen, CO.
RON BROOME – He's involved in a couple of non-profits in
Boulder right now.
– Go for the big donors first.
– Need floor plan and architectural drawings first
BOB SIEVERS – Stated that MARBLE/marble is a wholesome thing.
– Remember to mention that it is tax deductible.
– Educational
– Non-profit
– Who can contribute to what and want to.
– Gifts: With a charitable 501c3...has to be one
truly eligible to help us lower our taxes
– Tests...can we establish
– NAMING OPPORTUNITIES: Set up different opportunities.
Little things and big things.
– Think in terms of "Thousands" and not
just "Hundreds"
1,000 5,000 10,000 50,000 100,000
– Naming: Some want it to be private and not public
– In-kind things
MIKE – From Gypsum. Make a video and sell it.
JENNIFER STOCK – We should dream the biggest dreams,
then focus and Prioritize
MYLES SCHACTER – Define MARBLE/marble and it's future
– Define the facilities
– Fund Raising (Estate Planning)
VICKIE BRANSON – Has several ideas on what and how she wants to
gift. One is to raffle off one of her sculptures for the
symposium. She does have a question regarding gifting a sculpture to
the symposium. How does the tax deductions apply? (I've always been
told you could only deduct cost of materials)
HUGH LITTLEBURY – Wants to see a mission statement. The one on the
brochure is more of a vision statement. Need a plan, a budget, site
plan and estimated cost. He offered to work on writing the specs for
the top 4 once he has the proper information provided to him. He needs
ballpark figures and then would start writing for grants.
TERI CAMINKER – Will do a fundraiser in Tucson, AZ. For every
$100 raised, she will match it.
CHET HARING – Will volunteer time such as carpentry,
masonry and construction. (Any time people donate will work well
with any matching grants that we obtain)
????
MARLIN ROGERS – Corporate foundations are good about matching
funds. Look at our roster and get prices.

OTHER GENERAL COMMENTS by atendees:
– Work up grants as mentioned before.
– Formulate an endowment process.
– Control the fund raising. Any ideas that someone has, need to
pass it before the board
of directors for approval and to meet the guidelines established.
– Fundraising: Books on-line, passive sources of income, add bank
of vending
machines, calendars, instructional videos.
– MARBLE/marble is a treasure in the United States. Secure it.
– Keep the charm.
– Newsletters can garner financial.
– Provide a library. The question would be where and would need to
be determined.
– If someone donates a certain level of money, they get to attend
more sessions for the
amount of money. Research has proven that not everyone uses the
perk.
SPECIAL NOTE: My apologies if I have left anyone's name out next to
an idea you have provided. Sometimes someone would talk to me
whenever I was not at my site and with a notebook to write it down.
We can always correct this if anyone wishes. Several people came up
with many of the same ideas. `Connie
